For Contractors Who Want to Stop Playing Small in Their Business and Lives

There are two types of contractors in America...which one are you?

For some contractors, the last 12 months have felt like a bad dream. For others the last 12 months have never offered more opportunities.

What’s the difference? Why are some contractors struggling to survive the COVID era while others are raking in more money than they’ve ever seen in their lives?

I’ll get to the difference in a minute, but first, let’s talk about the current state of construction. In the last year I’ve talked with hundreds of contractors from all industries who are…

  • Struggling to consistently provide for their families -- their bottom line is so meager they stress about every little bill that comes their way.
  • Questioning if they should throw in the towel and get a job -- the burden of being a business owner is overwhelming and the juice is no longer worth the squeeze.
  • Riding the feast or famine roller coaster -- for three months they couldn’t give a job away and then suddenly they have more leads than they can handle...and they don’t know why.
  • At the end of their rope -- they’ve given everything to their business and have nothing to show for it except an ulcer and a negative bank account.

Quite frankly...these men and women are scared.

I know, because I've been there...

Tom Reber, The Contractor Sales Academy

My name is Tom Reber and I’m one of the founders of The Contractor Sales Academy.

When I started my painting business in 2002, I didn't have a clue what I was getting into. Five hard years later I couldn't take my family out for ice cream without worrying if there was enough money in my checking account to cover the bill.

After a lot of trial and error I figured it out and sold my successful business to my partner in 2012. Since then, it’s my goal to bring respect and dignity back to the trades. And a HUGE part of that respect is for contractors to respect themselves by protecting their time and charging what they're worth.

Contractors are the backbone of America. You beautify peoples’ homes. You keep shit running. You make daily life possible for millions of people across the country.

So why is it that you’re running scared and stressed?

You should be in the driver’s seat.

But here’s the problem - and the reason there are two types of contractors…
Struggling contractors lack
MARKETING, SALES, AND LEADERSHIP

When you made the decision to start a business, you switched jobs and you didn’t even realize it.

I know I didn’t get it when I started my painting business. I thought I just needed to be an amazing painter and customers would flock to my door, guys would beg to work for me, and I’d take my family to Mexico every year without a worry in the world.

I was so fucking wrong.

It took a couple of years and a lot of hard lessons - I once sold a job for $17,000 LESS THAN WHAT IT COST ME TO PRODUCE (Yep, I WAY underbid the job and almost put myself out of business) - but I eventually realized that my REAL job was to market and sell my ass off while being a strong leader for my team.

Can Elon Musk build a rocket ship? No.

Can Richard Branson fly a jet? I don’t think so.

Can Marc Cuban play basketball? Not as good as he thinks he can.

So why do most contractors insist on being masters of their trade while still trying to grow a successful business!

Running a business takes a completely different set of skills. Skills you were most likely never taught.

If you’re going to run a successful business, though, now is the time to learn. While it’s not your fault that you were never shown, if you continue to make the decision to ignore the most vital parts of your future you will never live up to your full potential. And that would be a shame.

Massively successful business owners have mastered three core skills…
Marketing

Imagine if you had the skills to create customers on demand -- no longer relying solely on referrals to grow your business. How better would your life be if your phone never stopped ringing with fresh hot leads.

Contractors who master marketing NEVER wonder when their deposit check is going to come through. They can literally turn off and on the faucet of leads at will. They are the true masters of their own destiny.

Sales

What would happen to your revenue if you were no longer afraid to talk about money. What if you had the confidence to have an open and honest conversation about your services without worrying about how the prospect was going to react.

Sales is the lifeblood of any contracting business. Contractors who are true sales ninjas can quickly work through new prospects and determine who is a buyer and who is a tire kicker. They can also sell projects at higher prices than their competitors - YES, THE EXACT SAME PROJECT for 20, 30, even 100% more money.

Leadership

How many hours could you free up per day if your team was all rowing in the same direction. A team of true #FWs (fuckin’ winners) who all understood and believed in your vision. People who didn’t need to be fed every stupid little decision.

Building a team is the key to real business freedom. Contractors who are surrounded by #FWs can actually live the life so many of can only dream about. Never worrying about what's being said to a customer or who is fucking up an install. These contractors are spending time with their family AND being an admired leader in their community.

DAY 3 - POOLSIDE NETWORKING
Friday, April 30

It’s time to hit the pool (and the beach) with all your fellow attendees. The entire Contractor Sales Academy team will be there to spend the day with you.

If you’ve never been to a live conference before you may think this is a “blow off” day. But don’t make that mistake. Ask anyone who has ever attended one of our events and you’ll quickly learn that this type of free time changed their lives forever.

One conversation with a fellow attendee can make all the difference in the world. After all, you’ll be hanging out with the cream of the crop. These #FWs are running some of the most profitable contracting firms in the country.

Plus you'll have the opportunity to meet the guys behind The Contractor Sales Academy.

Steve Shinholser - ask him about building and selling TWO multi-million dollar contracting companies. He has NO FEAR when it comes to money. He just retired from his last company after selling it to his employees.
Tom Reber - he's the top business coach for contractors in America. He's helped more guys get out of debt and reach the $100k mark than any other coach. Ask him about his upcoming HGTV show.
Derek Johnson - five years ago he was struggling to keep the lights on. Today Derek is taking home hundreds of thousands each year from his landscaping business. Ask him how he got there.
Greg Dempsey- an exclusive new home builder, he's sold several custom homes over the phone without ever meeting the customer. Ask him how he's able to create so much trust that a customer will agree to a contract without even meeting him.
Tim Cutroni - he sells ponds and he's damn good at it. Tim's passion for helping guys win at sales is unstoppable. He'll challenge and push you to get better whether you want it or not.
